Crooks is a city in Minnehaha County, South Dakota, United States, and is a suburb of Sioux Falls. The population was 1,269 at the 2010 census. Crooks was named New Hope until 1904. Since 2004, Sculpture Walk has brought the finest works of public art sculpture to downtown Sioux Falls. In addition to being the largest and most recognized annual sculpture exhibit in the United States, SculptureWalk is a peer-judged competition for cash awards. Step back in time for a glimpse at turn-of-the-20th-century Sioux Falls with a visit to the Old Courthouse Museum. Local architect Wallace L. Dow designed the "largest courthouse between Chicago and Denver," which was completed in 1893. The courthouse was built with native Sioux Quartzite with stunning interior features such as slate stairs, granite pillars, and 16 murals depicting life in South Dakota during the early 1900s.
